At Outpost Summer Camps, this is a central theme of all of our programming. We call this “group-centered camping,” and the focus is on creating an environment in which each camper feels like they belong to the group. This, in turn, fosters confidence, creativity, social skills, and a positive sense of self and of community.

Each of Outpost’s camp sessions begins with a focus on name games and get-to-know-you games to provide structured opportunities for children to take the first steps toward friendship. Similarity: Commonalities help children relate and deepen their bonds. At Outpost, small groups are created with similarity in mind. Outpost is a progressive program with four distinct levels. Trip duration grows with every year of participation. Destinations, experiences and challenges are delivered in an age and skills appropriate way. As the program progresses, youth advance right along with the experience, gaining positive new leadership and character traits along the way. Eyes on the Skies will resume soon.
